The Den Refillery is your friendly neighbourhood refill and sustainable goods shop, nestled in the coastal towns of Ucluelet and Tofino, BC. We’re here to make low-waste living easy and inspiring for locals and visitors alike—helping everyone cut back on single-use plastics. Our shelves are filled with curated, purposeful, and local finds that spark joy and encourage a slower, more intentional lifestyle. At the heart of it all? A love for nature and a commitment to protecting the wild beauty of the Pacific Rim.
At The Den, we love bringing together our local community, online friends, and curious visitors for a curated shopping experience that makes sustainable living simple (and fun!). From zero-waste essentials and local handmade treasures to our beloved in-store refill station, we’ve got plenty of ways to swap out single-use plastics for planet-friendly alternatives.
We recently relaunched our in-house brand, KINNECT — handmade right here in Ucluelet— which reflects our passion for sustainability, community, and slowing down to enjoy the intentional little things. (You can check it out here!)
Beyond our shop, we also team up with Pacific Rim tourism, hotels, small businesses, and nightly rentals to provide package-free, refillable, and biodegradable amenities. Our mission? To support our coastal communities while welcoming visitors on their own sustainable adventures. Together, we can keep this magical corner of the world clean, beautiful, and thriving for years to come. We’re both big believers in learning as we go and inspiring action around zero-waste living. Every day we’re researching, experimenting, and finding ways to make sustainable living more affordable and accessible for everyone. When we’re not in the shop, you can usually find us surfing, beachcombing, or wandering the trails—connecting with the very places we work so hard to protect. That love for the outdoors is why we’re so committed to offering ocean-friendly, plant-based, and refillable products.
A Note from the Owners
Building The Den from the ground up has been a true labour of love, and over the last six years we’ve each settled into our own unique roles and passions within the business. Here’s a little peek into who we are:
Diane – The creative force of The Den. Outside the shop, she’s a fibre artist, creating everything from custom knitwear to woven wall hangings, basketry, and natural dye pieces. Inside the shop, Diane keeps things humming day-to-day, leads our buying and curation, and is the heart behind KINNECT. With a background in holistic nutrition, she’s always been drawn to natural, intentional living—and that spark is what helped shape KINNECT into what it is today.
Kristen – The big-picture thinker with a passion for sustainability. Kristen splits her time between Ucluelet and the sunny coast of Cambutal, Panama, working more remotely within the business. She keeps us grounded with finance, operations, and management support, helping everything behind the scenes run smoothly. When she’s not working, find her on the beach either surfing a wave or collecting trash from the beaches. Her passion for sustainability reaches far beyond the business.

The Den Refillery is situated within the traditional unceded territories of the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ and Tla-o-qui-hat First Nations. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to live, learn, and create on this land.
